ABC Compounding Pharmacy’s Health Tips: How to Treat Hypothyroidism Naturally

The team of professional pharmacists and technicians from ABC Compounding Pharmacy often receives a great many questions from our patients regarding hormonal imbalances and the resulting variety of possible side effects.  But what actually causes these imbalances in the first place?  A common cause is hypothyroidism. The thyroid gland helps to regulate our body temperature, our heart rates, and even our metabolism.  Here are some simple tips to treat this medical condition naturally and without medication.

1. Stay away from gluten and A1 Casein foods

Wheat and dairy products have the highest levels of gluten and A Casein proteins, which also lead to the most common types of food allergies as well.  Following a strict gluten-free or grain-free diet will help.  And consuming dairy products made from only A2 cows, sheep’s milk, or goat’s milk is another easy type of natural home remedy.

2. Eat more kelp

Hypothyroidism can be caused by a deficiency in our body’s iodine levels. ABC Compounding Pharmacy recommends that you check your iodine levels at least once per year.  If yours seem to be low, then simply add more kelp to your diet.  A natural and organic iodine supplement also works, too.

3. Reduce your carbohydrates

When we eat too many carbohydrates, this can have a dramatic effect on the thyroid.  By decreasing the amounts of foods that we eat that are high in sugars and grains, we can begin to see a rebalance of our hormonal levels. ABC Compounding Pharmacy recommends replacing these high-carb foods with avocados, coconut oil, salmon, flaxseeds, and other foods with healthy fats.

4. Detox the metals from your body

The foods that we eat and even the water that we drink can be laced with several forms of toxic metals, this can easily lead to this hormonal imbalance.  A natural concoction of cilantro, chlorella, turmeric, and milk thistle is a natural way to detox the body. ABC Compounding Pharmacy also recommends staying away from plastic containers and cups, too.  Plastic is high in Bisphenol A which can also negatively affect your thyroid.

5. Eat more selenium

Some of the common symptoms of hypothyroidism include depression, fatigue, weight gain, and forgetfulness.  We can become more easily irritable, nervous, and begin witnessing disruptions in our sleeping patterns.  Perhaps you simply need more selenium in your diet. ABC Compounding Pharmacy recommends eating more salmon, Brazil nuts, beef, sunflower seeds, onions, and mushrooms if you want a natural way to boost your selenium levels.
