Running does not have to be exclusively for athletes, anyone at any age can run and receive its many benefits by following these basic steps:
1. Speak with Your Doctor
Consult with your doctor about running as a regular form of exercise. It is good to ensure that your body is able to withstand the intensity.
2. Shoes
Running is one of the most inexpensive forms of exercise, but it does require a pair of sturdy running shoes. A quality pair of running shoes will prevent injuries and allow you to perform your best.
3. Warm Up
Begin your exercise routine by walking or jogging to get your blood pumping.
4. Start Slow
For beginners, start slow and pace yourself. Do not immediately start running without gradually speeding up, as this can cause potential injuries. A great technique is to start off walking and incorporate 1 to 2 minutes to running then going back to walking. You can gradually increase the number of running minutes as you build your endurance.
5. Hydration
